On your marks. Get set. Go!

In April 1500 BSB105 students learnt first-hand about some of the cutting-edge sports tech innovation taking place in stadiums and sporting fields globally – from wearable ‘tech’ scarves monitoring fan engagement to smart cricket balls measuring speed and spins.

A special thanks to Cisco APAC’s leads for Sport, Media & Entertainment, Manny Spanoudakis and Nick Ritsinias who gave a truly inspiring guest lecture. Students were provided a huge boost of creativity and inspiration for their innovation strategy assignments for Queensland Cricket – ‘How might technology grow junior participation in the sport of cricket?’ It will be exciting to see what they come up with. The visit also included a tour of QUT’s state-of-the-art esports & virtual bike facilities. Thank you to our colleagues in the QUT sport team for taking the time to show our visitors around.
