Master Tech is a 5-day innovation challenge that takes place in Innovation Central Melbourne. Participants are handed a diverse toolkit from our ‘technology pantry’ and tasked with the exhilarating challenge of crafting a novel product or digital experience. Teams will navigate through brainstorming, prototyping, and refining their visions, culminating in a dynamic three-minute video narrative of their journey and a compelling final pitch on exhibition day.
From Concept to Creation
Day 1 to Day 3
Collaborators are challenged to try new things in a programming language of their choice and build 3D models, animation, and virtual worlds. These may be self-initiated or prescribed by the facilitators.

Teams are challenged to experiment, fail fast, pivot to new ideas, and build multiple prototypes over days 2-3 before settling on a final product to finish. They will have access to a curated ‘pantry’ of cutting-edge technologies to experiment with, but at least one technology element is not introduced at the start. Instead, it will be lying around in the room, something that needs fixing, or something new and never opened. The participants will have to discover it for themselves.
Teams will seek guidance and answers from the facilitators. The facilitators will assist by helping eliminate barriers such as too many functions or filling in knowledge gaps with suggestions. In this way, the facilitators do not answer questions directly, but they do help teams shape their ideas more quickly by provoking thought, resolving conflict, and lifting team morale. Teams are not eliminated, but often the details of their ideas are.
